LPGA player Christina Kim was in the Williamsburg area last week for a media blitz generating excitement surrounding the Kingsmill Championship. Kim, an 11 year veteran of the LPGA Tour is looking forward to playing the River Course for the ninth time on April 29 to May 5. Kim is a three time Solheim Cup team member and has recorded over 40 top ten finishes in her career.
In addition to Kim’s visit, Kingsmill Championship Tournament Director, Katherine Thigpen, has announced the tournament schedule and other special events surrounding the upcoming championship. “The tournament last year was a fantastic event full of drama and legendary golf and this year we are looking to make the championship an even greater experience” stated Thigpen. “We hope to continue making the tournament an event the entire family and community can enjoy, while supporting the LPGA.”
The Kingsmill Championship will be staged April 29th – May 5th, 2013 on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA. Kingsmill is a proven venue that has stood the test of time, having hosted 30 professional golf events. The 6,379-yard, Par 71, Pete Dye designed layout provided victories from elite players on both the LPGA and PGA tours.

With a stellar leaderboard and a 9-hole playoff, Jiyai Shin beat Paul Creamer to win the Kingsmill Championship, ending the longest playoff between two players in LPGA history.
