This program is offered at Kiwanis Park Tennis Courts  The Williamsburg Department of Parks and Recreation maintains 10 tennis courts within the city limits.  These courts are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, except when leagues or lessons are scheduled.  For more information, please call or email the Williamsburg Parks and Recreation Department at (757) 259-3760.

KIWANIS MUNICIPAL PARK
Seven lighted all-weather courts and an adjacent lighted rebound wall are located at Kiwanis Municipal Park. The lights are available on demand daily from dusk until 11:00 p.m., except during January and February. A switch on the pole closest to the access gate for each bank of courts allows players to turn on the lights for one hour. A warning light above the switch comes on with 10 minutes remaining in the hour. If players need additional time, the switch must be activated again within this 10 minute warning window.  The tennis courts are located off of Ironbound Road behind the College of William and Mary’s Dillard Complex dormitories.
Directions: Turn on Ironbound Road from Rt. 60, then turn right on Tennis Ct. and drive straight back to the parking area behind the first dormitory. The courts are located behind the parking area.

Brent Hughes Bio:

Brent has been a USTA member since1963. He attended the University of Georgia on a full tennis scholarship, where his team was ranked Top 10 Nationally all of the years he attended. Brent has instructed independently since 1976 as well as being the Tennis Professional at Centre Court Racquet Club and Palmetto Dunes / Sea Pines and the Tennis Director at Huntington Park Tennis Center and Kingsmill Resort. He started Brent Hughes Elite 10s Academy in 2009 and has been instructing for the City of Williamsburg since then. Since being with the City, he has created many programs, camps, special events and charity events

Tennis Lesson @ Kiwanis Park in Williamsburg

Williamsburg Recreation Department will offer an assortment of tennis instruction this summer at Kiwanis Tennis Courts. Lessons —Quickstart (grades Kindergarten-3), Beginners (ages 8-12), adult/teen beginner, as well as Intermediate for youth (ages 8-12) and adult/teen taught by Chuck McHose. Jamestown High boys tennis coach Bob Artis will instruct a Smash & Splash camp for ages 6-12 and a Run & Gun camp for ages 12-18 from July 22-25 at Jamestown High.

The Williamsburg Inn tennis club invites tennis players to participate in activities for the 2013 season.

Our new camp, the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp – Peak Performance and Developmental Tennis Camp, will once again be hosted at the College of William and Mary. The camp is a resident junior tennis camp for boys and girls ages 9-18 and is directed by Peter Daub, Head Men’s Tennis Coach at The College of William & Mary.

General Information

The PPandD Tennis camp at W&M offers young tennis players an opportunity to go to a quality camp where they will learn from some of the top coaches and players in NCAA Division I tennis. At the same time campers will take advantage of experiencing the second oldest college in the country and enjoy one of the most sought after vacation destinations in the U.S., Williamsburg, VA. In addition to many hours of tennis, campers will get an opportunity to go to Watercountry USA (one of the premier water parks in the country), tour Colonial Williamsburg, and see the historic campus of William and Mary

Dormitories

All dorms are air conditioned with meals served in our college cafeteria. Campers should bring all linens, towels, blankets and pillows.

Types of Campers

Resident Camper – Take part in all scheduled activities.

Day Camper – Instruction starts at 8:30 AM ending with afternoon competition at 4:30 PM. Hot lunch provided in our cafeteria. On check-in day the day campers will stay until approximately 9:00 PM. Having the day campers participate on the first evening will count as makeup time if we should experience rain during the week or time spent at Water Country USA.

Extended Day Camper – Same as day except campers stay for evening activities commencing at 9:00 PM. Lunch and dinner provided.

Half-Day Camper – Instruction starts at 8:30 AM ending at 11:30 AM. On check-in day the day campers will stay until approximately 9:00 PM.

York County Parks and Recreation offers an array of tennis programs throughout the year including leagues, lessons, tournaments, camps and more.
York County’s premiere tennis facility, Back Creek Park located in Dandy, offers some of the finest tennis courts in Hampton Roads. With 6 courts available, the park is the perfect place for league play, instructional lessons, camps, and recreational use.

JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMS

Junior tennis lessons are available during the spring and fall. In addition, a number of summer tennis camps are offered in June, July and August.
Beginner lessons are geared towards youth ages 5-17 with no prior experience playing tennis. Advanced Beginner and Intermediate lessons are also available for those who possess advanced skills and techniques.

ADULT TENNIS PROGRAMS

Adult tennis lessons are offered at Back Creek Park throughout the year. Players ranging in all abilities are invited to join in on the fun. Classes meet one night a week consecutively for 4 weeks, weather permitting.
In addition, a multitude of leagues for men and women are offered, with formats ranging from singles, doubles, mixed doubles and more.

The Tennis Club at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia offers 15 tennis courts – 13 clay and 2 hard courts, including six Hydro Courts,™ with two courts lighted for evening play. A player’s lounge and locker facilities are also provided for the enjoyment and convenience of our member and vacation guests.

The McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center features six indoor tennis courts using the GreenSet GrandPrix Surface (rubberized base under color coat), air conditioning and indirect lighting at a competitive level. The facility also includes member and team locker rooms, several spacious lobbies and spectator viewing that boasts 362 stadium seats as well as a mezzanine seating area. In addition, the ITA and Rolex generously donated a state-of-the-art electronic scoreboard.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Women’s Tennis Hall of Fame contains a collection of artifacts and records pertaining to collegiate women’s tennis, and enshrines former players, coaches and contributors that have impacted the sport. The Hall of Fame also functions as a library, archive and research center for intercollegiate women’s tennis.

QUARTERPATH PARK
Three all-weather courts are located at Quarterpath Park. These courts are open to the public during daytime hours as they are not lighted courts.
